The Elgar Festival website now features ESO (English Symphony Orchestra) concerts. There is to be an Elgar Festival in Worcester, 31st May to 2nd June 2012.

Organ recitals at Malvern Priory About every couple of months, commencing 12 noon and lasting 50 to 60 minutes, with large screen video display.

Autumn in Malvern Festival, during October. Music, talks, exhibitions and more. Poetry events in (and around) Ledbury in association with The Friends of the Dymock Poets.
Malvern May Day celebration is usually held on the Saturday before/closest to 1st May, organised by Malvern Fringe Arts. 2012: 5th May, details to be confirmed.
The springs/well dressing takes place over the same weekend as May Day event - see Spa info on Malvern Hills page for more background.
Elgar Uphill Cycling Challenge 2011: 12th June. See how quickly you can get up Church Street.
WestFest West Malvern's annual all-dayer takes place mid-July, 2012: 14th (Saturday). Arts and crafts, food and drink, kids workshops, street theatre, loads of music.

Three
Counties Showground Just south of Malvern. Specific gardening,
dogs, ponies, antiques, cars and such shows, plus the usual countryside
types.
Spring
Gardening Show, in May (2012: 10th to 13th) is the first in the
RHS calendar. Malvern Autumn
Show (Gardening and Food, 2012: 29th/30th Sept) rounds off
the season. Also CountryTastic,
indoor event day for kids up to 14, 2012: 12th April.
Flea fairs and antique fairs put on at the showground by B2B Events.
There are some fairly new leaflets (2009) on walks and cycle rides from Three Counties Showground. Please ask the Showground for these, to encourage them to do more on 'sustainable tourism'. The showground also contains the National Collection of Perry Pear Trees.
Three Choirs Festival
July/August classical music bash, orchestral as well as choral, with maybe a bit
of jazz. The oldest musical festival in Europe (noted as a 'yearly Musical
Assembly' in 1719). Rotates between Hereford, Worcester and Gloucester. 2012:

GeoFest 2011 Activities and events promoting and celebrating the attributes of the Abberley and Malvern Hills Geopark. 28th May to 31st August.
3 Villages Festival - Cradley, Mathon and Storridge, first held 2011: 24th to 26th June.
Worcestershire Literary Festival, events mainly in Worcester but some scattered across the county, first held 2011. 2012: 15th to 24th June.

Big
Apple Weekend. 2011: 8th/9th October. Celebrating the
apple harvest and all things apple. Loads of events, around Much Marcle

Blossom time with The Big Apple, Usually first weekend in May (2012: Sunday/Monday 6th/7th May). Cider tasting at Putley Village Hall. Big Apple contact number: 01531 670544.
Daffodil Weekend at Kempley - guided walks, teas etc. 2011: 19th and 20th March.
Daffodil Weekend at Dymock - 2011: 2nd/3rd April. Note that web info can be difficult to find, but often refreshments at Dymock Parish hall for the weekend after Kempley.
Oxenhall Daffodil Teas took place in 2010, south of Kempley. Check, but probably the weekend before Kempley.
Big Chill Festival is at Eastnor Castle Deer Park (just south of Malvern Hills). 2012: 2nd to 5th August. Chill out music and more.
24-hour Mountain Bike Race in Eastnor Castle's Deer Park (apparently the "biggest 24 hour race in the world", according to Bike Radar). See Mountain Mayhem site. 2012: 22nd to 24th June. Check to see if there will be a "sportive" event on the Sunday in the wonderful countryside around Malvern.
There are various other events during the year at Eastnor Castle.

Guild of Herefordshire Craftsmen - website is in Flash. Shows at The Market House, Ledbury for various periods.
Much Marcle Steam Rally Rye Meadows, Much Marcle. Includes steam ploughing. 2012: 21st/22nd July, with local crafts and produce. Also see Shakespeare's Rally list.
The Garden Festival "passion for plants and the planet" at Hellens, an interesting very old manor house. 2012: 9th/10th June.
North
Bromyard Folk Festival mid-September. 2012: 7th to 9th.
Bromyard Music Festival is new and planned for August 2011, 19th to 21st. A strong jazz flavour is likely.
Bromyard International Town Criers Festival. 2012: probably 5th/6th May. Also try Knighton, on Welsh borders.
Bromyard Gala 2012: 7th/8th July. Includes Steam Rally.
Bromyard has a new Hop Festival, 3rd September 2011. A Hop Play, horse-drawn vehicle parade, "country games" and other events are planned for the day.
Nozstock Festival Rowden Paddocks, Bromyard, HR7 4LS. 2012: 27th to 29th July. A range of music, from bluegrass to electronica and beyond.

Fladbury Walkabout (between Pershore and Evesham). Flower festival, refreshments, boat trips, music and more. 2012: 14th and 15th July.
Asparagus Festival Events mainly at The Fleece Inn, Bretforton, east of Evesham, but also elsewhere, late May/early June. 2011: Auction 29th May, Festival 30th May, and other events 23rd April to 21st June.
Tewkesbury Water Festival hasn't been held since 2009 (July)?
Tewkesbury Medieval Festival 2012: 14th/15th July.
South
Newent Onion Fayre takes over the centre of town for the day. The biggest single-day festival in Gloucestershire apparently - there's music, exhibitions, entertainment, food and drink other as well as onion related competitions and displays, etc. 2011: 10th September. Tourist info: 01531 822468.
Linton Music Festival A village in between Newent and Ross has a music festival (started 2001) on the weekend nearest to midsummer day, in the grounds of the Alma Inn. 2012: 15th to 17th June.
Acoustic Roots at Linton - newish music festival, in 2010 (21st August) featuring various local "roots" groups and also the better known Baka Beyond. Same venue as above, HR9 7RY, phone 01989 720355, camping available.
Ross Live!, July/August. Discontinued from 2010?
Ross-on-Wye Cider Festival at Broome Farm. August/September. 2012: 31st August to 2nd September. Due to popularity, book in advance, and/or check website for other possible summer weekend events at Broome Farm.
Around Hereford and county
Borderlines Film Festival brings the best of international cinema to Herefordshire. 2012 (tenth year): 24th February to 11th March. At The Courtyard and venues in Ledbury, Ross, Gorsley and elsewhere in the county. Phone 01432 344039.
Herefordshire Festival of Walking June. 2011: 18th to 26th.
Wyeside Music Festival. Not taking place 2011.
Beer on the Wye, a Hereford Camra event, featuring local cider and perry too. 2011: 8th to 10th July. Riverside Marquee at Hereford Rowing Club, Hereford, HR4 0BE, with camping available 'next door'.
Garway Folk Weekend - 2012, if it happens will be different from previous version. Keep an eye out.
Wye Valley Chamber Music runs some events in Hereford, St Briavels (near Forest of Dean), Much Marcle (Hellens) in September. The connected Chamber Music Festival in January (2010: 8th to 17th January) has been going since 2000. St Briavels Music Society calendar may be worth checking out, too.
Herefordshire Art Week, September. 2011: 10th to 18th. Includes various galleries in Ledbury such as textile works at Tinsmiths and Weavers Gallery, paintings from Andrea McLean and Valerie McLean; Blue Ginger gallery near Cradley; others with jewellery, furniture, ceramics. Festival Shakespeare in the castle and more. Three weeks, June/July. 2012: 23rd June to 8th July.
Ludlow Marches Food and Drink Festival, 2012: 7th to 9th September. There's a connected foodie walk - Magnalonga in August (2012: 12th) - an 8 mile walk through the countryside surrounding Ludlow with a course of food at each stop (vegetarian option on request).
