Music Sessions

Note: most pub based sessions are free, but some special events/mini-festivals will have a door charge.

The Morgan, 52 Clarence Road. Not sure if ‘open mic’ sessions at this friendly pub owned by Wye Valley Brewery are continuing. Also Sunday acoustic sessions. Check Morgan Facebook page.

The Red Lion, 4 St Ann’s Rd, WR14 4RG. Music on Saturdays (at autumn 2022) – see their Facebook page. Separate info on Facebook for open mic night.

The Green Dragon, 126 Guarlford Road. Live music Wednesdays, Saturdays. Dragon on Facebook.

West Malvern Social Club (also on Facebook). Music night every Thursday, 9pm to 11.30pm, plus various events often on Saturdays.

Colwall Park Hotel puts on some music nights.

The Barn, Ledbury (Facebook) – a recently renovated 17th century old barn in the centre of town hosting live events. “arty music with bar and food”.

The Retreat pub/bar in Ledbury (7 High Street) is worth a check.

Music Clubs

Malvern Concert Club put on “international standard classical chamber music concerts” at Malvern Theatre.

Abbey Jazz Fortnightly jazz sessions every other Sunday at Malvern Rugby Club, Spring Lane, from 8pm. Small band sessions focus on the ‘swing’ era of the 1930s and 40.

Malvern Male Voice Choir.

Flatworld “Rich compelling melodies and tight driving rhythm, Flatworld play an eclectic mix of music from Eastern Europe and France.”

Harpsong (Jonathan Penley) music is based on celtic roots, playing celtic harp, piano accordion, guitar, reed organ and penny whistle.

Vo Fletcher – part of Flatworld and various collaborations.

Worcestershire Saxophone Ensemble is based in Malvern.


English Symphony Orchestra (also the English String Orchestra) puts on a range of concerts, from full orchestra to quartet, in Malvern and surrounding areas.
